When an inmate dies at the hands of an anonymous internet post
The death of a prisoner at the Handsome Lockdown prison in New York City on Friday has triggered the latest in a string of revelations about the treatment of inmates in US prisons.
Inmates, some of them violent and mentally ill, have been found to be dying at the prison’s maximum security wing after they were placed in solitary confinement without medical or medical staff being present, according to the New York Post.
The death of an inmate at the facility in Lockdown, New York, was first reported by The Washington Post.
The facility, a state-run facility, houses more than 3,000 inmates, most of them for drug crimes.
Inmates have been placed in isolation for weeks without medical staff present and, despite the fact that they are in solitary, their deaths are not being reported.
There are no public records available about how many inmates have died at the institution, nor how many have died due to their inability to receive care.
The inmate who died, Daniel Wojcik, was released from the facility last year after serving time for burglary, assault and robbery.
He was serving time at the time of his death.
“There’s no other way to put it, the inmates are really sick,” said Daniel’s father, Daniel.
“There are some of these people that are just sick, and there’s no way to get them to get better.
I think they deserve better.”
We’re just not getting it from the administration.
I’m angry that we’re being lied to about how our son’s death was investigated.
“Daniel was a good kid, he had a good life, he was a family man, but he died in solitary.
Daniel’s death has put the entire prison into turmoil.
The guards are still trying to keep the public in the dark about what’s really going on.””
They’ve been lying all these years and they’re still lying.
The guards are still trying to keep the public in the dark about what’s really going on.”
The inmate said the guards are refusing to answer basic questions.
“It’s a huge embarrassment.
You would think that you would be allowed to talk to somebody and get a clear answer about what happened,” he said.
On Wednesday, the Department of Justice released a statement that said the prison was aware of a possible suicide in the maximum security prison and was working with the local authorities.
A spokesman for the facility told the New Haven Register that it had been told of two deaths at the maximum-security prison in recent months.
He did not provide any details about the suicides.
According to the Washington Post, the New Orleans-based corrections department is currently investigating a number of deaths in the state’s prisons, including at the New London Correctional Center, where Daniel Wozniak was found dead in his cell.
Correctional officials said they had been notified of another death, but would not elaborate.
One inmate, who has not been identified, died in the New Bedford prison in Connecticut last month.
The correctional officers did not respond to the AP’s request for comment.
