Google says it’s ‘truly grateful’ to Uber for its $1bn funding
The ride-sharing company is ‘totally grateful’ for Google’s $1.6bn investment in its ride-hailing business, the company said in a blog post.
“We’re extremely proud of the work we’ve done together over the last two years and we’re truly grateful to the people who have supported us along the way,” Uber wrote.
“As we continue to grow, we’ll continue to invest in making Uber even better and faster, but we’re not done yet.”
It said the funding would help Uber “drive more people and money to the cities we serve.”
It also said it would expand its operations in the US, Latin America, and Asia, as well as create new jobs.
Uber said it had already started hiring drivers and other employees.
The funding comes after Google invested in the company in April, making it one of the largest investors in the ride-service industry.
